The problem is in the topic title, my sys specs are below. I put this thing together 3 weeks ago (with help) It's nice but I wish it was more stable. I flashed the bios and updated the KT133 chipset (Via 4in). Also using the latest drivers for SBLive. The official Nvidia 6.31 is out and I'll do that too (but the changes listed are not in point)

AGP 4X is working fine
I switched virtual memory back over to windows after trying a few settings. (Some stuttering before)
And I do have AMD approved 300 watt power supply

I don't know what else to look for.
Voltage settings? I know I'm not the only one that's had problems with this particular set up. It really rocks but Doh! I want to make a ghost image but am loathe to do it until things are stable.

Also, I'm going to a show tomorrow, should I get 128 more RAM or A dedicated drive for gaming? Can't afford both this week!

I bought my first pc 10 months ago, so ..uh.. speak slowly. :p

You might want to check your temp on your CPU and case temp. With a KT133 chipset, you should have a thermistor on your motherboard already. You definitely want to check to make sure it isn't a heat related problem.

Are you running a Q3 demo loop? Or do you actually play Q3 solidly all day!

If you're running the demo loop then there is a memory leak that will cause it to stop after a few hundred loops.

Abit again, these boards are not very stable, now there are three threads in a row complaining about probs with Abit configurations.

Of course, i will recieve a merciless flame over this...

Four KT7's and all are stable. Three raids and one not. Usually its the user and not the board. IMO.

Well, are they stable? Do they work as well as they should?

All i can say, my experience with ABIT has been a real bad one... More than 20 installed boards, all of them had problems, and all of them went to the "mobo-heaven". Replaced them with Tekram boards, everything works fine... Same chipset and everything...

smells like ur SBLive is sharing its IRQ with either the USB controller/Highpoint controller or another PCI slot.
Try putting in a PCI slot that doesnt share its IRQ with anything.
Have u got the latest SBlive drivers installed?

I learnt this the hard way a bit back with a BE6 :(

ABIT has proven to be a very stable board for me. I can see why you have such a bad taste in your mouth for ABIT though PCResources.

You know sumthin, I'm thinkin the culprit is the SBLive, and I did read somethin somewhere but can't put my finger on it now. They are the most recent drivers.

When the game crashes the sound "hiccups" repeatedly.

that sound stuttering IS the sign of IRQ sharing probs :(

PCI slot 3 works great for the SBlive in the KT7 raid in my two systems :)
PCI slot 2 should be great too ;)

Have a look in your manual - it says which slots share their IRQ with the USB and the Highpoint controller. Will give u a clue as to why i chose these 2 PCI slots :)

I spoke to Creative about 12 months ago about this and when i told them the symptoms like urs they jumped on the IRQ bandwagon straight away.

If U are using Win98/ME then u will have a SB16 Emulation - this has to be on a low IRQ - IRQ5 be nice.

Best way i found to solve this was to take out all the cards from your puter except VGA and reboot.
Shutdown and then add just the SBLive and reboot and install the latest drivers.
Check that the IRQ's are something like "SBLive" - IRQ 10, "SB16 Emulation" - IRQ 5 be nice :)
Then u can pop ur other cards in one by one rebooting between each card and checking the IRQ's.
This way u will find out if any of your cards are trying to fight with the SBLive and SB16 and so change their PCI slot position before putting all the cards in and not knowing which one is causing the problem :)

If ur using Win2K then u wont have the SB16 problem so can just plug and play :) Heh, Win2k pnp rocks compared to Win9x.

Let us know how u get on,

rockhard =)
