KT7- RAID problem w/BIOS

When I boot my KT7-RAID up, I get the following message immediately after the video bios dissappears :
Award BOOTBLOCK BIOS v.1.0
c 1998 Award Software
BIOS ROM Checksum Error

Anybody know what the heck this means? Is it the BIOS, the Motherboard, or the CPU???

I had this show up a couple of times. It was when I tried to set the speed of my Duron to something it didn't support. I don't think I did all the L1 bridges well with the pencil. So, for example, if the BIOS tried to set a multiplier of 8.5 and the L1 bridge was connected right, then I think you would get this message. If you have a locked TBird or Duron and tried to unlock it, this may be it. The only was I got the message to go away is to put in my other Duron. You may also try resetting the BIOS.

I'm not sure on this, but I believe the error is because the bios doesn't agree with a setting you have set in bios. I think I read this somewhere so I'm not quite sure. I guess it all else fails, just use the free CMOS jumper....:\

*hmm* I never tried to OC the chip, and I've cleared the cmos many times. I even flashed the bios 3 times. Twice w/the kt7tl bios, and once w/the kt7ul bios... I guess the chip must be gone on it. Hopefully the vendor will replace the board (after stickin' it to me w/that 25% restocking fee)... Thanks for all the help.

Are you correctly clearing the CMOS? Also flashing the bios doesn't always reset the CMOS. What CPU are you using? If you are using a Duron, the default voltage was bumped up on some of them and the KT7 doesn't know this. There is a beta UL bios out there that fixes this problem. I thought it was the board too, but I swithced CPUs to have it autodetect the new one, and put the old one back in and it worked fine.

Ok, when flashing the BIOS, I use the command awdflash and it goes into the program and asks what the file name is, and I believe its kt7_tl.bin / kt7ul.bin for the 2 bios's out there. After that, it goes through, two of the blocks on the last part of the update turn the blue color which according to the key means *not updated* and the rest are white which means *write OK* .. The machine reboots, and I get the same error. To clear the CMOS, I move the jumper over as instructed, wait a minute or so, move it back, turn the PC back on, and same thing. I guess I need to go get another CPU to find out if it's the BIOS or not... Anybody got a spare DURON I can borrow for 5 minutes..*lol* Thanks for the help.
Hopefully the vendor will test it out for me. Only thing I'm worried about with them is they sold me a Golden Orb w/the Duron and KT7 (as a package), and the Orb has damaged the capacitor casings...so they'll probably pull the *original condition* bit on me or someething.

That's IT!!! To clear the CMOS, you have to move the jumper over, press power on (nothing should happen), press power again (to turn it off, i guess). Then switch the jumper back to the correct position and power on. Try it that way.

Also when you power up immediately press F4. This forces the board into the standard settings for the CPU and then it should boot fine for you.

Note - You may have to do this a few times as well as press F4 more than once.

Thanks for all the help I'm getting here... The place I bought it from is going to replace the board for me, but all these tips and tricks I'm learning on the way will help out nonetheless...
