hi, I have the abit kt7-raid, and the current 64 bios only has raid bios 1.11.0402
the most recent bios on highpoint is 2.3
with driver version 2.3 for winXP

I wrote an email to highpoint, and they told me I need bios 2.3 for driver v2.3, and that I can't update my highpoint bios with their 2.3 because their bios 'will only update pci cards.' and that I have to get the bios update from Abit..

and then I remembered reading about bios mods. so I searched for some bios mods for the kt7-raid that had the raid bios 2.3
but non did...

so I was wondering if anybody knew about such bios mods..? or if highpoint is wrong and that maybe there's a way to update my highpoint bios without touching my motherboard bios?
or that I might be able to run driver v2.3 with bios 1.11.0402, but still, I'd rather have bios 2.3, and v2.3 (-:

thanks guys

You are fine with the 1.11.0402!!!

The version 2.3 is for ultraDMA133 which your board does not support.

I am on a KG7-Raid and the embedded Highpoint BIOS is HPT370 version 1.11.0402

just like yours.

Let the WindowsXP native drivers load (do not try to install scsi drivers in first step of

windows installation!)

It works fine.... Promise!

Insidious, if I try to install xp without specifying additional drivers (f6) it doesn't work with the windows xp native drivers as you say..

Interesting...it worked fine for me. After the install I put on the latest drivers and saw my Sisoft scores double! Paul's FAQ explains a lot fo this stuff. There was another thread out there in these forums with someone having another RAID prob that was handled nicely I think.

Not to be difficult here, but I instaled WindowsXP pro on both my machines here without hitting F6 to load additional SCSI drivers and they

are both working great. You may be mis-diagnosing your set-up problems if you are having difficulty

clarification:

Once the WindowsXP install finished, I loaded the Highpoint Version 2.0.1019.0 drivers. My point is that the embedded BIOS version 1.11.0402
(installed along with latest MoBo BIOS flash) is OK.

notes:

Embedded HighPoing BIOS = flashed to MoBo along with latest (NOT modified) BIOS from ABit
HighPoint drivers = D/L'd from ViaHardware.coom and loaded after WindowsXP installation

Curiosity:

DL'd the v2.3 Highpoint drivers and updated to them.... (embedded Highpoint BIOS still HPT370 1.11.0402)
still running fine....

I really don't think you need to bother trying to update the embedded HighPoint BIOS.

Insidious, you were right!!
I think it was because I got used to pressing F6 with windows 2000, that I never tried without on XP... heheh
but I just tried it, and it automatically detected my RAID..

and I will update to 2.3 like you said, once finished installing..

but still, I'd like to get the bios to 2.3, like Aquinas said.. how did you get it to work Aquinas?
or does anybody else know how I could get my bios up to 2.3 without affecting my motherboard bios?
