New system and all is well until I throw in the sound card. Load drivers and when its finished it hardlocks. I have removed the card and system will startup fine. Reinstall card after deleting software loaded and try to reinstall several times with the same result. I heard of people having problems w/ sblive and kt7, but cant figure this one out. I have tried the card in pci's 4 and 5 with same results both times. Any help would be appreciated.

GeForce Annihilator is the only other card in case.

No other PCI cards are installed besides the SBLive!Value. Machine locks after driver and software are installed. I need to remove the sound card just to reboot the system. After restarting I uninstall SBLive and try it over just to get the same result. As soon as the machine starts each time after the sound card is installed it searches for drivers and prompts for cdrom disc. I go all the way through setup and then it locks after installing driver programs. Nice system besides this snafu.

I have mine on slot 5 and no conflicts.
Had to assign printer port sharing in the sb16 emultion properties in device panel.
This was the only problem I encountered.
Try a different slot, don't use slot 1 as it is shared with the AGP port.

I had a lot of problems with my SB Live also. Much of the problem went away when I disabled the USB capability in the bios. Never could get USB to work properly anyway.

I also had the same problem. The only way I tried that is a success is to install SB Live! prior to installing VIA's 4-in-1 driver. Then disable SB Emulation, and then install VIA's 4-in-1 driver.

I had all sorts of problems getting this thing to recognize everything too, but my will was stronger than the lousy design of VIA chipsets. For some help try this link.

This may be an old problem lurking for new systems. If you're using the drivers off the CD that came with your card, that's the problem. Get the latest SB Drivers. It's been out for a while but OEM cards sitting on the shelf have old drivers that give you BSOD with processors faster than 500Mhz.

Hope this helps.

PS. You don't need to disable USB or SB Emulation. The card should work fine. I have two KT7 Raids with Live cards, everything enabled, and they work just fine.

thanks guys- got it working. i had to disable sb16 emulation in the device manager per creative. at least they know about it. highpoint driver tries to share its irq and this was the easiest way to handle it.
