I started getting constant lockups (while browsing, playing games, email checking, etc.)after installing a SB Live on my TBird 900@1050. The sistem was rock solid for a week with a Vortex 2. I blamed other perif, etc till removing the SB Live. Now with only a Vid Card in I have moved the SB Live to every freakinf PCI slot on this mobo. No matter were it goes it locks up. If I remove it, it's happy.

Any ideas or suggs? Other than sticking back the Vortex2?

I have the same KT7-RAID board with a Duron 600 @ 904. I have a GeForce2 MX in the AGP slot (running at 4X), nothing in slot 1 (so no conflict with AGP slot), SB Live Value in slot 2 and Linksys NIC in slot 3. Never put anything in slot 5 because of the conflict with the HighPoint controller.

I installed a clean WinME and then put in all the patches (4in1, disk shutdown, etc.) and latest flavors off the web of the SB, Linksys and GeForce2 MX software. Everything seems to be working fine. Hope this helps.

The only thing I can't get running correctly is the power management stuff. With certain settings, it goes to sleep and I can't get it to wake up. Hey, another thread for this one...

I just tried installing a SB Live! X-Gamer 5.1 into ny KT7-Raid with the same problems!! I have tried it in all of the obvious PCI slots, moved the other cards around, and I have had ZERO success with getting the system to not hang during Win Me boot up. Sometimes it doesn't even get past the POST! I can successfully boot and run my system with all of my other PCI cards in the various slots, but as soon as I add the SB Live- CRASH!!! I previously had an AWE64 Gold in the ISA slot, but it died . I removed all of the drivers for this as well as cleard out device manager prior to installation of the Lve! card. If anyone has insight to this problem please post.

System:
KT7-RAID
800 Tbird at 950 (100 * 9.5)- the FSB is NOT OC'd at this time
Alpha PAL Cooler with delta 38CFM
256 MB Kingmax Tiny BGA Memory (2*128 MB)
Dual Maxtor 40GB Plus 40 HDD (ATA 100) RAID 0
Viper V770 Ultra
Adaptec SCSI I/II PCI Controller
Digital Origins Firewire controller (PCI)
USR 56K modem (NOT winmodem)
*#%$*?* SB Live X-gamer 5.1
Kenwood 52X TrueX
Generic 6/4/28 CD-RW
Creative 2X DVD

Disable Soundblaster Emulation or

<< This has been reported on a number of sound cards including the Diamond Monster MX300 and the Soundblaster family of cards. It is due to a conflict between the legacy SB16 emulation (which allows your soundcard to function under old DOS-only games) and the Highpoint controller provided on the KT7-RAID card. The SB16 was an ISA card, incapable of sharing its IRQ or DMA, and hence the problem.

The following installation sequence can solve this problem:

Disable Highpoint controller
Install sound card software
Re-enable Highpoint controller

Follow what Fumiup has said.

I have every PCI slot full all 3 ram slots full, all 7 bays of my tower full and 6 out of the 8 IDE ports. Running an SB Live Platinum 5.1 and np.

ALso try setting the SB16 Emulation LPT Interrupt sharing to the on position (click on the checkbox of the properties of SB16 Emulation)

I have a Live card as well ..running in windows 2000. My problem is that I can't seem to find a setting anywhere that mentions SB 16 emulation. Anyone know where it may be? The second I put my Live x-gamer card in my kt7raid/1ghz tbird/win2000 system starts crashing. tia

Here's the deal...

I moved the SB Live to every single PCI slot. No Luck!

Went ahead and disable the Highpoint controller and that left the sistem unbootable. Even on safe mode it will crash. Was able to enable it again w/o re-formating/installing.

Decided to try to change the resources of the SB Live but was not able to even get to "Device Manager" because system will freeze.

So decided to change the "resources" for the HPT370 UDMA/ATA100 RAID controller several times. Left sistem completelly unstable even though it showed no conflics on every try. Found that setting it at '>Resources>Interrupt Request 11 and Input/Output Range D800-D807 and Input/Output Range DC00-DC03 and Input/Output Range E000-E007 and Input/Output Range E4000-E403 and Input/Output Range E800-E8FF and Memory Range 000CC000-000CF3FF' did not have any conflics w/ any other devices. System booted OK and no signs of instability.

So installed the SB Live on the 2nd PCI slot and WALLA!!! No lockups, nothing. Installed the ME drivers and rock solid.

What a pain!!! But hope all this helps.

Now running the T Bird 900 @ 1050, 1.825v, and PC133 at 136MHz

Hope that this helps :)
