KT7 Raid and Hard Drives

I am looking to play with the RAID function a little and I currently have a maxtor and an ibm drive. I have heard a few problems with the maxtors and the raid controller, whats the status on that? What version of the drivers do I need? I have the UL bios already. Am I crazy mixing IBM and Maxtor drives?
Cheers

I THOUGHT I read it here. What I remember is you need the latest bios, UL and the latest High Point driver to have a chance at maxtor drives functioning. I do not remember the revision number. After that, there is still an issue with some models of maxtor hard drives. I wish I could help out more, if I can track down a link, I will post it!
OK! I found something for you....

The latest Bios is the Uz301b1.bin and Hotpoint drivers are HOT103_bwin found on Abits Tiawan sight under Beta.
They work great for me

Yes, you do not want to mix brand/model number when creating a raid array or the performance could be severly hurt.

I think I am going to hold off on mixing the drives. A couple of people have warned against it. I have an extra maxtor 20gig now which matches the 20gig I have in my server so I think I will raid that sucker. Mirror it. I just wanted to play with my personal computer first, the server being down cost me money.
