KT7-R mother board require CPU fan plugged into MB

I have a Vantec fan with a 3-to-4 pin adapter. I've read some where that the fan draws too much power to be plugged into the MB directly...is this true and if so, how can I get my system to boot. I can't flash the newest bios if my system doesn't boot at all.

You should be able to use the adapter and connect the fan rpm lead directly to the mobo. The 3-4 pin actual only uses 2 wires, I believe that they are the outside pair, normally yellow and black. The middle wire of the 3 is usually red, this is the rpm wire. Remove this wire from the 3 pin connector and connect it to the middle of fan header #1 on your mobo.

First, the KT7 can put out more voltage than most motherboards. I don't know what fan you have, but it will run a Delta black label fine.

Second, the latest bios is now WZ, which disables the fan 1 RPM protection by default. Try it.
