My new toys for my first Athlon system:

1) Duron 800 with bridges connected that does 1-GHz @ 1.85v
2) FOP32 heatsink/fan
3) Midtower case w/300w AMD-approved PS
4) Voodoo3-3000
5) IBM GXP22 18 GB hard drive
6) MSI K7T Pro2a - 4x4700uF and 3x3900uF capacitors (that's one of the "good ones", right?)
7) 2x128 MB Hyundai PC133 CAS3
8) Acer 6432 CD-RW
9) Acer 50x CD-ROM
10) Soundblaster PCI128
11) V90 PCI modem
12) Win98

Okay. I've built tons of Intel systems, so I just want to make sure I'm not missing anything. obviously going to overclock to 1-gig

so in order to make this happen, I need to:

1) Flash the BIOS to the one that allows the K7T Pro2a to do 1.85v with a Duron
2) Disable the onboard sound
3) Install Via 4.26 4-in-1's before I install DX8 or the V3 specific drivers

Any other little tips/hints/FAQ's you can point me to to make my experience less painful?

I'm especially interested in anything that might cause instability, i.e. odd IRQ conflicts, BIOS problems, driver install crap, etc.

I've been reading up on this, as it is a "whole new world" compared to what I've done with BX boards and Intel CPU's, so I'm looking forward to getting any responses either emailed or posted to this thread. Thanks a bunch!!!

Case: Fong Kai 320. Lots of room to build in, and very good cooling.

I'm sure that you'll be steered to Win2000 by some of the folks, but I'm presently OK on 98SE.

BTW, if you have GoBack, I used it successfully to ferret out buggy drivers, and other junk. Load it right after the OS and the 4 in 1.
Then you can flail away with impugnity!
