You should go into the bios and check your settings. Make sure that you don't set the drives as "none".
Also check your settings in the PCI & Onboard I/O Setup. Make sure the controllers are enabled and that the PIO and UDMA setting are on "Auto".
Check and recheck all your connections. If you are using the IDE cable that came with board, note that the cable is location specific. There is a specific location for the master, slave and controllor on the cable.
Check your jumper settings on the drives themself. Making sure that if they are on the same IDE controller, that they are not both on the same setting.
Change out the IDE cables for "known good" cables.
If all these things fail, take it back to where you bought it. If they sold you all these items, they should be able to get this configuration to work, or find you something that will.
