KT7 BIOS question

There is a description for the latest bios revision that states that the system will power down if it does not detect a cpu fan plugged into the fan1 header. Is this the case regarding ALL bios revisions? I just received my board and it will power off after 10 seconds, just as it says on Abit's website, with no fan plugged into that header. My cpu fan does not use the 3-pin header, it splices into one of the drive plugs. If that is the only difference between the latest bios revision and the one before it, I'll just flash to the slightly older one so that I can use the system without a fan plugged into that header. I know that is the problem that I'm experiencing because it works fine when I plug my PII fan in.

no, the latest official bios(WW i think) has it. you can get the latest beta bios which sets that option to power down to disable here. get the wz.001 not the wz.000 as the wz.000 has it set to enable.

good luck and let us know how it works...

Edit**if you go back to UL bios, the option isnt even there!**/Edit

Thanks for the info. If I would have just looked for it, I would have found it I guess. I'm looking for an adapter that will allow me the ability to monitor my fan speed in the bios, but this may have to do for now.

Also, I apologize for posting this here, I just realized after posting that I should have put this in the MOBO forum.

Thanks again, loosbrew.

loosbrew,

The BIOS update worked great! I did have to download the file twice, the first one kept hanging right before the flash. Again, I appreciate your help.

I'm late reading this but glad it worked. 🙂 FYI, starting with the .b01 WZ BIOS (I think) the Fan 1 header detection defaults to disabled. I remember flashing my board when they first introduced that feature and completely freaking out cuz I thought I fried my BIOS.😱
