Hi,
I have an Abit KT7 which has been running well since October off of my Older IBM 10 gig 5400 rpm drive. Then today I tried to install a new WD 40 gig 7200 rpm drive, the WD400BBRTL. I used the utility disk that came with the drive to clone my IBM, and then proceeded to boot into windows off the WD. Windows booted fine, and all my apps ran, BUT whenever the disk is being accessed, the mouse stalls. For instance unzipping a large zip file, the mouse jerks when moved, or even when loading a web page. Funny thing is this never happened on my old slower IBM. Set the firmware on the drive down to ATA 66 Mode ? no change. So I figured, must be I needed newer VIA drivers. Installed the newest ? no change. Installed the newest beta ? no change. Removed all cards except video, formatted the drive and did a clean install of 98SE ? installed the VIA drivers. Still the same problem. Looked in the device manager, and no other devices are sharing resources with the IDE controller. Can anyone help me?
Thanks,
Jay
