KT7 And The Little Chip That Could

Hi gang- just got my new Abit KT7(sorry Jonny Guru) up and running with my (factory)unlocked Duron 700. Since I was going from a Via chip to a Via chip, I figured I could just do the "delete the enum key" trick, and let the board re- detect everything. Had a bitch of a time getting things up and running, but after all the BS, this thing is running sweet. 950, at 1.8 volts. Tried the magic gig, wouldn't finish the boot. After the system is up and running for a bit, and I get the Taisol HSF I ordered, I will try higher.
A couple of interesting things: 1)I no longer have the bizarre USB problems I had with my Asus P3V4x ( If I played either Q3, or UT, the USB bus would be down when I finished, and went back into Winblows). 2) Strictly for the hell of it, I enabled AGP4X- and hey, it works- flawlessley, all the time 🙂
I have been running a PIII(see sig) for about a year, and was interested in bench differences between the 2: 3DMark 2K with the below set- up-7400 3dMarks, 6700 with the overclocked Duron. ALSO, the memory performance in Sandra was WAY better w/Duron:449/525
( I had 365/420 using H.Oda's program w/Asus). I am still tweaking-so far, just about every memory tweak I have done has helped. I have a T-bird 800 coming in tomorrow- curious to see how that goes. If she runs as well as I hope, I will be an official AMD convert.
BTW, I have had NO lock- ups in running continuously since Sat. am, w/ only 1 reboot( reg. tweaks).
