KT333CE What's up with the CE?

I've noticed that some boards are listed as having the via KT333 chipset, and some are listed as having the KT333CE. So again, what's up with the CE? Is this some kind of new revision?

I was wondering the same thing. Both DFI and Epox are now advertising boards with this chipset. What gives?

I have this vague recollection of reading about that somewhere (here?) and seem to recall that the CE would support AGP8x
and maybe another feature or two.

VIA always has about 2-3 revisions of their chipsets... Usually in the form of CE, CD, or CF. But rarely CF. Most of the time there is only two.

In the latest revisions Via fixes bugs and various problems in the old one. Makes you wonder about buying another via motherboard..... Thats why I like Abit, because they always wait for the 2nd revision. The Soyo KT333 motherboard uses the 2nd revision because they were having serious problems with the first. I try to never buy a VIA motherboard when it first comes out. It could spell trouble....

CE is the latest revision.

Some bad info here. The CE/CD revisions mean nothing other than when the chip was made. It's the same exact silicon.

according to tweaktown here

Quote from site: "Just to clarify what the deal with CD and CE is, we rang VIA Australia to find out the main difference in CD and CE. CD was released for "Engineering Purposes" for companies like ASUS and ABIT and all those others to make early samples for reviewers to test and run. CE was supposed to be the official retail one that allows better overclocking; however, CD seems to be on a lot of boards at the moment. Must be trying to get rid of the older stock."

I read this at another site as well but don't remember where. Any know for sure?
