KT333 and Sound Cards - any incompatibilities that I should be aware of?

I just picked up the Biostar KT333 motherboard / 1700 + combo from TCWO. :D Now I just need a decent sound card.

Any problems with SB Audigys? What about Santa Cruz? Thanks!

Some review stated they had trouble with the Audigy and Soyo KT333 Dragon Ultra Board... but they think it could have just been their test board, and not a majority of the boards. I'll try and find the link.

Well, I don't have the Soyo, but I do have an Epox 8k3a which uses the KT333. I've ran it extensively with the Audigy (OEM and retail), Muse XL, and currently with the Santa Cruz. No problems with any of them. If you're a gamer and like the Audigy, go with it. If music and DVDs is more your bag, then go with the Santa Cruz. If you're just a plain cheapskate, to with the Muse XL (5.1 version, of course).

If music and DVDs is more your bag, then go with the Santa Cruz

Another option is the Philips AE & SE which IMHO sound better then the Santa Cruz,so for music and DVD playback don`t overlook these two little gems. One thing for sure, you`ve plenty of good sound cards to choose from.

Answering your original question : Nope ! No incompatibilities on KT333 based Biostar boards (or any other brands I'm aware of).

Of course, make sure to disable whatever integrated sound comes with your particular board in BIOS.

As for the sound card suggestions : Turtle Beach Santa Cruz, Philips Acoustic Edge, Hercules Fortissimo line; hell, anything but Creative (highly overated, pay for the name, get lower sound quality, compatibility now just as good from the other makers)

;)

Never had any compatibility issues of any kind with the Biostar M7VIF board that you got.... but I have had customers complain about the Audigy in the Soyo Dragon. Hmmm..... Maybe there is something to it than just bad parts or user error. :Q

If you need a good cheap board find one with a C-Media sound card. You can get them with SPDIF inputs and outputs for less than $30 shipped at ebay.com.

Also driver updates can be found at Windownupdate.com for the C-Media sound card
