Hey guys. I'm very excited to announce that I received the first part of my "new" computer in the mail today, an Athlon XP 1800+. I say "new" like that because I'm only upgrading CPU, Mobo, and RAM. This is my first major upgrade since 2 years ago with my KT7 and 800 Athlon. Well, I had the money to go ahead and get a retail XP 1800+. My next pay period coming up, I will be getting 512MB of PC2100, Mushkin BASIC. (Too bad I can't get it right now, it can be had for $109 and free shipping with Mushkin's Online Special today.)

The only thing I can't make up my mind about is which motherboard to get. I had my heart set on the Gigabyte 7VRXP, with onboard sound, LAN, and USB 2.0. But I've read so many problems with it and the GF4 cards (I have Ti4400) that I don't want to risk it. Around $110 is about as much as I want to spend, and it's right in my price range, but I don't know about it now. I considered going to the proven stable KT266A, but it doesn't have the features that I want in the 7VRXP. Are there any KT266A boards out there with comparable features, or has anyone seen the 7VRXP rev 2 for sale yet?

I am running a SOYO DRAGON + also with onboard LAN, 6 channel audio but not the USB2.0 only normal USB1.1., and RAID controller.

I am quite happy with that. I was also looking into the KT300 chipset but decided to wait for the KT400 to see daylight.

Just my two cents;)

I just sold my dragon+ to switch to the dragon ultra (kt333). the dragon+ really is a nice board, it will cost a bit more than 110 though. I sold mine for 70!!!! It is a great board though with excellent features. I think the best way to get a mobo is throught the for sal/trade forum at anandtech. Goodluck
