hi there...

One of my friends has started a gaming cafe .... he has bought 17 nos. of Jetway KT266A based motherboards... it has both SDR & DDR slots ... does that mean it is slower than the regular KT266A with only DDR slots.

I have checked on their website... the north and south bridges are same for both the boards

pls help (we are worried)

Sameer:(

how fast do you need it to be? Unless you are benchmarking all the time don't sweat it.

Doubt it as long as you use DDR RAM...If it's in hand, just go with it

Just use DDR and you'll be OK

KT266A is a great chipset. and still use one at home in my main rig.

I don't need to upgrade at all.... but with the winter season here and all. the fever caught me again. I am getting a new mainboard and CPU.

Are you sure that's not a KT266, not a KT266a? I didn't thnk the 266a would do SDRAM...

Ha ha..you've got the fever and I've got the itch. The only cure is to spend copius quantities of cash on new parts and pieces at the local 'puter store. I Will be doing the same next week, Just not exactly sure what I want yet. :D

hehe, lets share for fun
I am getting an EPoX 4PEA+ and a P4 2.0A in hopes of mad O/C. :D:D:D
I've already got a stick of DDR333 (512) but I think I want another 512 stick of 333 to make a gig.
my system should run good. this is backed with a set of WD 800JB's and a MSI Ti4200 128MB (next to upgrade)

Wow, not exactly sure just yet:confused: . Thinking of the ASUS P4PE and a 2.4-ish P4 With a fresh stickie of 512mb DDR333. Having a hard time deciding if I really want to go Intel right now or wait for nForce2 and a AXP2400-2600+. Also need 1 more WD 40 gigger so I can finally do some RAID action. This would be replacing my AXP1600+ and DDR266 w/Gef3 Ti200 setup.

that's pretty sweet!
i decided to go Intel after having 3 previous AMD rigs which I love. I left the Intel scene not incredibly happy.. my last PIII rig I really wasn't inredibly fond of.. not that fast, and despite popular belief/findings, was not as stable as the AMD rigs i was to own post PIII days. but I am trying Intel again since AMD is kinda dropping behind a bit right now. I want a real fast CPU instead of a PR rated Athlon. I want the MHz, I may end up going back to AMD if they hurry up and move some stuff out the door.. it's not too far out of the question for me to upgrade again right away and sell my stuff if i like what's on the market. :D

my new system will consist of:
EPoX 4PEA+
1GB of DDR333
P4 2.0 or 2.4 @ ???
MSI Ti4200 128MB
2x WD 800JB hdd's

:D:D:D
i am excited

Holy Bejeezus!!! I would be too!!! :D :D :D I'm gonna hold out a bit longer with my Athlon rig though. I just spent a ton upgrading everything else though, Audigy 2, Dell 1900FP, Albatron Ti4200 Turbo, Maxtor 80GB Ultra, Logitech MX700 and that new Asus TV Tuner card. The rest of my periphs were lagging a bit behind, but my CPU and mobo are still doing ok. By the time I'm done sorting through all the boxes and rebates and getting everything to play nice, I'll probably be ready to upgrade again ;) I'm gonna look heavily at an Intel rig next as well now that the price/performance gap is closer. It is frustrating with AMD chipsets how you just know a slight modification to the chipset is going to produce 200 more mobos with an "A" indication that makes you feel like you have to upgrade. :(

I think Tomshardware tested out a motherboard that allowed the use of either PC133 ram or DDR2100 ram, and found negligible difference between the two. Not sure of the chipset on the Mobo, though. So you likely should not sweat it anyway. Besides the PC133 is at rockbottom price-wise, and the DDR ram is costing twice what is was a few months a go (and last year as well).
