KT266 Ram issue

Had some old SDRAM in a KT266 chipset motherboard.. Replaced it with a 1GB stick of pc2100 (the maximum speed allowed on this chipset) When i turn it on it gives me a long continues beep and wont POST. It continues to beep every 5 seconds or so. Issue? I can't figure it out. All specs match to motherboard and chipset

You could very well use faster rated DIMMs, they just wouldn't get /used/ at more than 133 MHz (PC2100).

The long beeps very probably mean "no (compatible) RAM found" - so if you're 100 percent sure the DIMM is inserted properly, then the board (or its BIOS) doesn't like what you presented it with.
