KT133A vs. Athlon DDR, which is "better"?

At the risk of starting another Intel vs. AMD type thread, I have to ask what you guys all think of this issue. Recently my KT133 board experienced some BIOS problems and I got a new KT133A board, the Iwill KK266. I lowered the multiplier and am now running my Athlon T-Bird 800 at 133 fsb. I like the way it works and am now a big fan of the KT133A. My question to you guys, which type of motherboard do you think is "better" taking into account stability and all that too. I've seen a lot of rigs with DDR memory and I was wondering what those that have DDR think of the stability of their system. The reason I ask is that I could still return my KT133A board (I got it at a local store) and go buy a DDR board and some DDR memory if that would be a good investment. What do you all think?

The two DDR systems that I have put together in the past month or so have been very stable, but the performance difference between the AMD 761 northbridge and your KT133A is only about 10%, so the question you have to ask yourself is: Is this small change in performance worth the cost of new RAM to me?

Well, if you can reuse the SDRAM you already have, then KT133A might look like a good option. But if you're getting new RAM anyway(especially with the ultra low prices of DDR), then I think a DDR board might be better.

My SDRAM I have right now is ok, that's what I'm using. But I'm trying to figure out whether the extra cost of a DDR board (they seem to be more expensive) and DDR RAM is worth it.

If you're building a whole new PC, there is no reason not to go DDR. Boards are stable, and mature. Prices are equal to SDR and SDR Mobo's. But is it worth it to do an upgrade just to DDR, no.

If you are going to keep your Tbird 800 then I would definitely just stick with the kt133a. However, if you are going to upgrade the processor too, then I would switch to DDR because there would be more benefit.
