KT133A Motherboard....

ModelM

Well, I had a Iwill KK266, but it was damaged when I shipped my computer to school. Now I am looking for a new motherboard. I am looking for a more economical solution, or the best bang for the buck.

thanks.

Do you want another KT133A based?

If you want bang for the buck, get ECS K7S5A. Should work with whatever you were running on your old board, plus you'll be able to upgrade to an XP & DDR whenever you want.

THey are about $65.

Yeah my K7S5A is great with SDRAM or DDR and is the least expensive alternative since you could put off buying DDR awhile yet. I also recommend either the Shuttle AK31A for 79$ or the Epox 8K7A FOR 77$ both@Newegg

Thanks for the info guys. I think the ECS K7S5A is a great bargain. Unfortunatley, it has the onboard lan which is not compatible with my case. Any other suggestions?

What type of case do you have? Most allow you to remove the template to make the board fit.

LOL 🙂 I had it in the same case, it's a good deal @Newegg 😉 I just completely removed the template with a small screw driver. There isn't that much exposed area once the board is installed and certainly doesn't interfere with proper cooling significantly.

Well, you can still use the board if you don't want to just cut a hole.

It should still fit in there, you just won't be able to use the onboard LAN.

Personally, I wouldn't let something like that stop me from using the board I want...I'm sure you or somebody you know has a saw or a dremel that will do the job.

Or, just remove the whole panel like DAPUNISHER...not really a big deal.

My K7S5A's all came with a replacement plate. Just pop the old one out and replace it with the new one.

You'll read about problems with this board (as well as any other), but I have built 3 systems with them and they are all going fine.
