What would happen if I put a XP1800 in my Asus A7Pro? OTher then the fact that the fsb will be stuck at 100?

Hve you gone to Asus's web site and check their CPU compatibility charts?

Why is this so obvious to me?

asus will say it isn't compatible
merely because it has the kt133 chipset which doesn't "officially" support the 133fsb
but it will work
if you want the definative source of a7v info (in my opinion) go here a7vtroubleshooting.com
that is a good place for info on the various bios versions and current status
their forums also have a few threads on running the xp in an a7v board

I have checked, it saids it not supported. Which probably means that it doesnt support the bus speed and etc. But I want to know if I can still run it, even though its not supported.

You'll need to set your m/brd to jumper mode & set the mutlipier on the dipswitches ,otherwise it might not boot......................that's assuming you have dipswitches!.Look at the A7Vtroubleshooting site ,very informative.

I've got an Asus A7V133 v1.01 ,I plugged in a Duron 1.1GHz (morgan core same as XP except cache & Alu interconnects) ,with the cpu locked it booted fine in jumper free mode (it apparently isn't supposed to though!) ,but with it unlocked it stuck at 12.5x multiplier.I could select any muliplier I liked in jumper mode without probs ,but obviously I lost all those lovely FSB options:(.So I had it at 9x133=1200MHz.I'm selling the A7V133 & have now got the Duron on an Abit KT7a v1.3 ,the Duron is now at 8.5x145=1233:)

Oh yeah with the Bios that the A7V133 shipped with it wouldn't get past the PCI device lisiting on bootup with the Duron 1.1GHz!

,fortunatly I was able to borrow my bros Duron 800 to flash the bios:)
