I have an old DFI mobo I want to check out..... all I have is my XP2100+ in my nForce2 rig.

Will bad things happen if I plug the processor in? Will the KT133 chipset recognise it at all? As a different processor?

Just some warnings before I give it a try. :)

Check the manufacturer's site for CPU compatibility, but the answer is probably no. The XP CPU came out around the time of the KT266A chipset.

It haasn't been updated for ages... officially still only AMD Athlon / Duron.

So... what would this KT133 chipset see this as? Anything? Nothing? Destroy the chip? :Q

It will not work. If the board doesnt support it, it just wont work. I have an XP working in a kt133a, but its a thunderbird, not a palomino.

I tried sticking a Palomino in an MSI KT133 board. It boots, the fans start spinning and stuff, but nothing shows up on the monitor at all.

That's the definition of "not working". That's not even a boot, it is a no post.

It may work, unofficially of course. I'd try it!

I tried to stick a XP 2500+ into a KT133A and no go. It'd boot but I'd get errors right away.

Oh well, worth a shot. It didn't kill anything though.
