Kristen Schaal's horrible comedy special

Anyone else catch it on comedy central? Dayum that was bad! In fact I don't think I've ever seen a worse comedy special. It was only an hour long luckily, but felt longer. This article sums it up pretty good.

Also this comment made there:
Of course it was all a bit.. And it was OBVIOUS it was a hoax.

Problem is, that UNLIKE true Kaufman form, it was NOT funny.

For such a seasoned comic its strange that she didnt calculate that
when you spoof your own "wreck" onstage, there HAS to be a resolution!
Meaning that one's fake screw up onstage has to be obvious to the
audience, UNLESS there is true brilliance to the gaff of making the
audience believe that the star is really screwing up.

See, when the audience genuinely believes the star has erred, then
the resolve has to be brilliant to make the viewer feel like they "get"
the joke at the end, and therefore shouldnt feel sorry for the star.

Her special was AWESOME, right up until she faked her
mispronunciation of Our-Plane. It went nowhere.
She took it nowhere.

In fact she f;at our sucked.

I really liked her. right up until she (did a good job) faking a
little girl coming onstage to take over, and then her bit goes no where.

Who in the F*** would ever think this is funny.

Im really angry at her for wasting my time by trusting her.

I will never watch anything she is on no matter HOW MUCH i LOVE the
Daily Show and encourage others to change thew channel if she comes on.

Kristen,.....a seasoned comedienne should know-IT HAS TO BE FUNNY TO
BE FUNNY.

Yours wasnt even awkward or stupid.

It was just dumb. And not even in a funny way.

Two thumbs down!

She does a lot of voice work...I hope she sticks to that and nothing else :). I enjoyed her a lot on the Daily Show also when she was on that.

I agree, as a comedy special it was unfunny, and as an AK bit it was even worse.
Yes, twinrider, it is Margaret Cho bad. Maybe even worse.

Oh yeah, the weird little page.

She was funny on 30 Rock but I doubt she can run her own show.

I'd almost tell people to watch the special just to see how bad it is (mainly the last 30 minutes), it's not just the worst comedy special you'll see but one of the worst things you'll ever see in general :p buuuut I wouldn't want to force watching that on anyone.

There was one bit I liked where she gets heckled by a 9 year old girl in the crowd and Kristen says "this is harder than it looks you know, I'd like to see you try!" and the girl comes up and is way better than Kristen. It was a bit like I said but the sad thing is that little girl probably is funnier than Kristen.

I've only seen her in 30 Rock, but just the thought of her attempting comedy is a turn off. She sucks.

I find this chick absolutely repulsive and her voice makes me want to hit her in the throat with a baseball bat.

She does fit the current direction of the Daily Show well, though. As far as, like, being terrible and stuff.

in general... well in absolute truth, girls are anti-funny

Sexist! Women can be funny but I'll give you that females are not usually anywhere near good at stand-up comedy for whatever reason. I really like Amy Schumer, her comedy central special was very good (3-4 months ago). Women seem to do a lot better at sketch comedy and in TV/Movies. Like Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, Kristen Wiig, Mellisa McCarthy, Molly Shannon, etc.

I don't know why the ladies aren't tailored for stand-up comedy but that seems to be the case. It's not like there are ZERO funny female stand-up comics out there it's just very few...and they are all judged as being female comics and not who they are personally, so that's kinda unfair. Like if you see guy doing stand-up and bombing you don't think "wow, men just aren't funny!", but that's how people judge women comics.

As a general rule ugly girls are funnier. But with so many women wanting to get into entertainment the industry can give top priority to pretty, funny women.

you know, that is true. if a girl is funny, she has to be unpretty :) if she looks good she almost has no chance. and even if she is ugly, she is still a girl so its not going to be an amazing comedy routine or anything.

im not trying to be mean. I just don't know a single woman comedy standup act that makes me bust up laughing and wanting more. well, ok lisa lampenelli was the only one that ever has.. she used to be hilarious when you didn't know her bit.

I think Sarah Silverman is both funny and attractive.

In any case, I don't know how this turned into a "girls aren't funny" thread just because she purposefully bombed as part of her act.
