I can only get my FSB to 143. I have good PC2100- Crucial, non-ecc, cas2.5, 256mb X 2, with heat spreaders. I also have good case and chip cooling- Taisol CGK w/ a Big Voodoo Daddy 5800rpm fan (syst-23C, cpu 42C running Seti 24/7). I have tried running it maxxed out, and at relaxed settings. I am starting to wonder if it is my CPU limiting me. I have a XP1700+ w/ AGOGA stepping. I understand these are better than average OC'ers. 1.57ghz is nothing to sneeze at from a 1.47ghz, but I'm looking for the WOW!! OC'er. I'd like to keep this board, but if I can't hit 155+, I'd be inclined to sell it before my next upgrade (soon). I've seen these on reviews hitting 170+FSB with good PC2100 RAM. Any ideas?? I'm good at tweaking my bios settings, and I've maxxed out performance as much as I can with my current combo.

prob not the mobo holding you back...is your cpu unlocked ?

if not try unlocking it and drop the multiplier and raise the fsb.

also you may want to try it with just 1 stick of ram, I have several sticks of Crucial and they mostly start to crap out at 160 mhz or so.

both of my KR7A boards will do 195-198 mhz depending on the ram settings..this is with pc2700 using 1 stick only with a unlocked 1600xp

not unlocked- I should try it, they are so cheap now if I screw it up I'd just get a new one. I had no qualms about playing with my old tbirds and durons, but when this came out, I wasn't ready to play with unlocking it. Guess it's time to try. Better OC'ing RAM is on my list too.

My understanding on the KR7A is that you have the ability to adjust the FSB settings WITHOUT effecting the RAM timing (133). Am I misunderstanding the ability to do this in the bios?
