I saw it and I wasn't impressed. It seemed like they were trying too hard.

I dont really care about the message they were trying to convey, I just loved the amazing cinematography! One of my favorite films of all time!

I've never heard of it. What is it about? Post a brief synopsis since you're so enthused. :D

The title means "life out of balance." There are no actors, or plot. Just amazing cinematography and music. The message it conveys is pretty evident when you watch it. I went into it with really high expectations, and was completely blown away....... although the weed my have amplified my emotions a bit. The great part is that theres no plot... so you dont have to worry about forgetting what the hell is going on.... hehe.

it is a great film, also check out powaqqatsi. the third in the trilogy naqoyqatsi isn't so great, but the music is good. Since i've gotten into quality films, i can't really enjoy hollywood crap anymore, with a few exceptions (LOTR) Anyway, if you seek any more documentaries that will make you think I suggest:

Hearts and Minds
Manufacturing Consent: Noam Chomsky and the Media
Dark Days

those three films really had an effect on me

also Nature Stuff with David Attenborough (life of birds, life of mammals, blue planet, etc.)

another excellent film just recently released on dvd is Wings of Desire

I only suggest these movies to people who like to think when they watch a film. I see most mainstream movies as eye candy, sense candy, whatever. The films i like are more like brain candy to me, I also recommend "The World at War" that has been on dvd for a while, it is 26 program (hour each) documentary on world war 2, and is fascinating.

i saw all three in the trilogy. they all were good, and the third one has some pretty trippy computer graphics, but the first two are the best. the first movie is largely responsible for that cliched "city life really fast" type of shot that everyone has used over and over for the last 20 years.

I think they were great for the time they were made. Now, most people have seen alot of the footage (or similar footage) they used so its not that amazing. Either way, the music and images make for a pretty cool experience.
