KotOR Now on Steam

Nice, I hope bioware is getting a good deal

will buy KOTOR2 when it comes on steam

though it'd be nice if i could find my kotor1 disks. . .

It's only 10 buck, Bateluer, might as well. I just picked it up myself; the price is right! 🙂

Since the game has been out for a while, is the Steam release all patched up with the final 1.03b patch? Or is it essentially a direct copy of the retail disks?

You can also get the discs at Target. They have the Star Wars Collector pack with KOTOR and a few others, all for 20 bucks. And they have KOTOR 2 by itself for 20 bucks.
But I agree this is a much cheaper, easier way to play the game.

would this still be a good game for someone who doesn't know anything about star wars?

Yeah, little Star Wars knowledge is really needed to play the game, and they have descriptions of weapons, items, characters, and the universe as you play along.

You need to go rent the Star Wars series from your local rental shop. You just need to watch the first three movies (Episodes 4-6): Star Wars, The Empire Strikes Back, and Return of the Jedi. Even if you don't enjoy epic space war movies, it would be good to know a little bit about it just so that you can understand culture references to it.

I've never had a problem with the retail disc. I would assume the Steam is exactly like the retail version. No reason for it not to be.

I think i'll wait to see if it's stable.

Should be just as stable as the retail version which is very good IMHO.

yeah right. i'm playing it now and have had 5 full system lockups in 14hrs of gameplay, in addition to other random freezes and crashes. Most unstable game i've ever played.

I have it on disc and see no reason to pay more jùst for an official cd check removal tool.

I've playéd through the beginning several times, keep getting bogged down when I hit the jedi planet though which seems weird as that's when you get your saber and stuff. Eventually I'll find a way to get theough it.
