KotOR 2 is pretty buggy :(

Twice it has locked up when I hit A to skip a merchant's info to his sell screen. Once a pod race started with my pod suspended in the air above the track. It moved forward but it was too high to touch any speed boosts.

It's a decent game but it has a lot going against it. omg so many load screens, and terrible graphics.

Well, can't expect much, since the engine is the same and the Xbox is getting pretty old, and your running it on a TV. I'm sure that if you bump all the settings to full and run at 1600x1200 on PC, it'll look acceptable (since, in KOTOR 1, I was impressed by the graphics, mostly the textures, like in Korriban).

Your merchant may have a faulty Xbox, or a first gen one using a Chinese DVD. I know this because I got a v1.0 Xbox (when they came out), and the drive crapped out on me when I attempted to play Fable (a DVD-intensive game, since its an RPG), thus corrupting my Xbox HDD, and forcing me to 'reset' the HDD (it still doesn't run anything properly, except for Soul Caliber). Since KOTOR2 is also pretty DVD_intensive (like you said, a lot of loads), this might be the issue.

Plus, KOTOR is supposed to be story-driven, not graphics-driven (unlike that POS DOOM 3).

I just got an xbox, to play halo mostly, and i picked up "KOTOR:I" I was expecting so much more being it was 'game of the year'and all. Im playing it now, only played it for 2hrs., still giving it a chance but the characters just seem so fake, and I got stuck for a bit in between a couple of 'um and carth, til i talked to him, again. Slightly buggy, but fun so far. 🙂thinks:not as much as paperMario I just rented)

So much reading, like a 'choose your own adventure' book. Hope fable is in my stocking.
XBOX "is getting old" - guess im behind but I love the thing and hope another 'halo' is released before xenon arrives. And I hope more games are introduced that are as fun as halo is to play. Driven like a cinema. And NO reading... I read books to go to sleep.

Just my current opinion, subject to change, and change I may it as I go along.

Kotor I was really fun for me probably because I had no idea what it was going to be like and it pretty much blew me away. Very fun. Hopefully Kotor II is similar.

At least you guys are off the first space station? Right after you're the droid and you open up the emergency hatch or something and it gets shot, I get black screen.

Only way I temporarily got past that is save/load but hten I just get turned into a dead droid right after that.

I hate this game!!

You have a modded Xbox and you're playing off the HD aren't you? I got the same problem. I put in the disk and it let me get past that part.

It hasn't locked up for me yet... but how many load screens can there be, it seems that every time I turn around there's another one....

bleh. I did have a modded xbox. Gamefaq forums was saying this so I turned off the chip and played with the disc (horrendous load times) and I still got stuck. 🙁

It has alot of bugs.. im now stuck in the sith academy becasue a door that was shown to open in a cinimatic did not open in the game as it should have... and im not starting over right now.. so screw it.. ill play WoW

Way to include a completely unrelated topic. third person RPG compared to a first person horror game... good job.

I have never been so frustrated with a game as I have been with this one. On the station when I finally enter the Republic ship my game goes to crap. Almost every time I get into a fight the game freezes, or when I push the black button. I tried using a disc washer and no help there, I also had to buy a new copy and when I loaded my game the same thing happened. Praying that it was just a bad save or something I started the game over and everything was dandy until I got to that one spot.

Now I have to decide what to do. Every other game works just fine with my xbox (played Halo 2 for like 3 hours on Sat just fine) so either I just kiss Kotor2 goodbye or I send my xbox into get fixed via my best buy warranty (which I am never getting again).

That's ok. I've been playing the game since this weekend. I started the game as a Jedi Consular... you know, for "more advanced players".

Well, I can't get ANY of the workbenches to work!!! At first, I (crazily) thought that this skill needed to be obtained, and was perhaps due to my choosing a Jedi Consular.

Nope. I've managed to finish Telos and most of Dxun with NO UPGRADES. Now I'm stuck because I need a computer spike and I can't create one. Besides, I've acquired alot of upgradable stuff, and I'd like to start making use of it!

Also, when I try to have dialog with T3, nothing happens.

I've heard numerous causes, one being that some discs have a problem. I've also heard that some version 1.0 xbox DVD drives don't like it.

I'm going to try and rent a different KOTOR2 DVD tonight and try that. Not sure if this is gonna help...

The game has worked perfectly for me thus far.

I'm currently on the planet Telos? trying to find my ship after it was stolen. I'm also supposed to be trying to get into the exchange

This is what we call "Holidays crap out". No excuse for this. Selling buggy junk to consumers who are right to assume that it will at least function on their console. All in the name of staying in the black for the year.

So waiting for the PC version.

i am on the pc versions, keeps on crashing after the cutscenes on nar sharda. the program just exits. sucks balls

I finished the first one on Xbox and it took a while to get used to the controls. Just felt awkward using the joysticks at first... but I eventually got it and it went fine. Didn't ever have a single problem with the game. Sounds like KOTOR2 isn't as well put together... I was really looking forward to it, but maybe I'll wait till the first patch comes out before I buy it on PC.

I'm playing the PC version of KOTOR2 and I've had no crashes. But there has been some cases of cutscenes ending abruptly on me.

I've had abrupt cut scenes and several crash to desktops while loading a new area.
