(kinda off topic)

Building my first computer, and as i just figured out how to put the motherboard on the "mobo pan" i relized its kinda hard to screw the screws in without hurting something on the board. are there special tools or a special screw driver that you can use to screw the screws in? please help.

if u think it's hard, you must be doing something wrong. it's not hard, and nothing other than a small magnetic screwdriver is needed.

are you talking about the standoffs? just twist them in however you can.. sometimes i find moving one standoff that's hard to get in, to another hole, makes it much easier. :) you have to put the standoffs in, and then put the board down, and then the appropriate screws, (6 or 9 on most ATX boards.)

now as i am trying to put the board back in the tower (everything screwed on right :D ) it wont go in all the way...i think it is because of this little piece of metal attached to the PS2 (mouse keyboard port) and it keeps getting in the way. can i just tear that off? i have never seen it before. its just a little piece of metal attached to the mouse/keyboard port/ :confused:

The little piece of metal is there to ensure metal-to-metal contact for electromagnetic shielding purposes. It should sit on top of the port block, just bend it up enough to get the block underneath it.

Also be aware that there are two different threadings of screws commonly used in computers. The screws that hold the motherboard onto the standoffs should screw into a bare standoff easily by hand, with no effort at all. If they don't, try the other threading. One's coarse-thread, one's fine-thread.

is it a height problem or just that you cant get it into the I/O plate correctly?
(bend the i/o plate up to make it easier)

there is also 2 different height brass standoffs ~ make sure youre using the right ones ;)
