Koss Personal CD/MP3 Player $39.99 @target. This is in their midwest ad. 45 second skip protection, no car kit or anything. Doesn't look like it has much of an LCD display, either. Still is about the cheapest personal MP3 player I've seen. Check it out!

Enjoy!

(Edited to fix price...oops)

<< You mean.. $40 right? >>

Oops. Thanks.

From another person on FatWormLet: "This is the CDP3100 and is a pretty good player for the price. It plays CD-R & CDRW, has FF & REW within a track, and simple navagation through the directories on the CD. I use mine for audio books, its been good for that."

Hey, anyone know: does it support Higher Bitrates (160Kbps+) or Variable Bitrate MP3's?

The Mp3 Cd player are fine.

Some come with ac adapter some do not. YMMV.

There is two models that is actually onsale.

The 3100 and the 3000.

I do not know the difference.

But as reported to me, some of the 3000 has a AC adapter.
However some of the 3000 do not have the AC adapter.

BEWARE!

of the 3100 model. It has a serious design flaw... scratch the hell out of your cd's. Metal plating beneath the top-center control panel can scratch cd's when pressing the buttons. The 3000 model may also have the same problem... it seems to be a redesign of the panel and also a different color.

Also know that the battery life is horrible! Less than 8hours of use with the shock protection on - is necessary. I'm sure it is even less when playing mp3's - shock buffer is only 25 seconds. Doesn't come with AC adapter and the headphones blow. What's the point of having an mp3 cd of 11 hours of music on it when your cd player won't even last that long on batteries.

I bought the 3100 first because I likes the color better... scratch my cd-r up within the first 30 mins (flakes all over the place). Took it back for the 3000... did the same but not the the extreme (scractches only on the inner plastic of cd). Something was rattling in the cd player too (sounded like a little plastic component.)

Traded it for the Phillips Joggable player ($49). Sound is superior to the Koss... better headphones. 2-step bass boost. Resume feature. Doesn't skip as much as the Koss (even without using it's shock protection). Says it can play 22 hours with ESP on.

guys, this unit is not as bad as some of you make it..... you get what you paid for, but there's nothing wrong with either the sound quality or the scratching that you guys talked about(ofcourse this could be different for me after sometime since i ve just bought it yesterday)....but NO SKIPPING, No Low Volume neither...... It supports all types of bitrates, ofcourse i would recommend trying to change all your mp3s to 160kbps rates......

Why does it say 59.99? Are there any current mp3 deals going on online that are much cheaper than this? I don't care too much about quality :D
