I was remiss in my duties. Yesterday marked the 50th anniversary of the signing of the armistice that halted the fighting in Korea and I did not start a thread to honor those who fought there. So . . .

To the Rev. G.A Pierson (aka bleep), a decorated Korean War veteran, and to all who fought in Korea, I say thank you. Your bravery, heroism, service to country and the world has not been "forgotten". You fought with honor, upholding the standard set by those who served before you and setting the example for those who have served after. You fought with valor in America's "forgotten war" but rest assured that many American's have not forgotten and we will continue to remind everyone of the debt we owe you and your brother's- in-arms. Well done.

For anyone in the DC-Metro area...

A Salute to Veterans
Randy Travis headlines a free "National Salute to Korean War Veterans," commemorating the 50th anniversary of the signing of the Korean War armistice, Saturday at 4:30 at MCI Center, 601 F St. NW (Metro: Gallery Place-Chinatown). Also on the bill are the Cornell Gunter Coasters, the Elsbeary Hobbs Drifters and the Platters, singing their hits from the '50s and '60s. Television personality Ed McMahon, who flew 85 combat missions as a Marine fighter pilot during the war, is the emcee. For free tickets, call 866-567-3250, or pick them up at the show. For information, call 202-628-3200.

Some of us prepare for the possibility of the next one, but by no means are the sacrifices of our veterans forgotten by any stretch of the imagination.
