How is he a prodigy? He plays it well, it's a good song, but that doesn't mean he's a 'prodigy' at anything.

the Asians really are taking over everything.

It's got nothing to do with being Asian (biologically) and everything to do with priorities and values. Most Asian families are huge on a well rounded education. They will spend lots of money on hiring tutors and getting their children extra schooling in everything. It's not all a positive thing as many kids grow up to hate their education or grow up thinking that prosperity is EVERYTHING. However it probably is better than the current western distaste (I don't think this is too strong a term) for education.

You're a hybrid? I somehow always thought you were 100% white.

I'm a hybrid. Though I look just about 100% white, I'm actually 1/2 Chinese.

He's like 11 years old or something. What it's lacking is passion and emotion. The kids still a kid. If he is really interested in this and this isn't just his parents speaking then the rest will come with time.

I think the kid is great! Definitely shows that he has put in time and effort, but I would not go as far as saying he is a prodigy. I'd further argue that effort matters more than natural ability.

It is not that Asians are taking over everything, it is that immigrants are taking over everything. What makes this country great are the immigrants that work their butts off because they have to in order to build a better life and end up making this country as a whole better.

I think Asians standout because of a few reasons.

1) There are more Asians in the world.
2) White Europeans blend in easily with the native majority so as not to stand out.
3) Asians are wired!

What I worry about though is if he's being pushed to be perfect and that if that drive to be perfect will make him be afraid to take risks. If all he'll ever be known for is covers it would be kind of sad.

I've been a subscriber for awhile, what's amazing is the amount of songs he can play and how well he plays them and I think the OP's description of prodigy applies indeed..

That is what I meant by if it isn't just his parents speaking. Which is all too often the case in Asian families :(

Asians are not big on a well-rounded education. When is the last time you met an Asian student that was a whiz at Art History? Or Roman engineering?

Yea I know what you mean. My sister got pushed into playing the harp by my grandma and while she's really good at it. She rarely plays it now. BTW a full size pedal harp $26,000+ If your kids ever ask to play the harp run.

It fails to create independent people.

It doesn't fail to create robots.

I'm agreeing with the second sentence. The Japanese have gone the wrong way this whole time by trying to create robots from metal and silicon... They instead need to see that the potential for a godless killing machine hyped up on anime is right in front of their eyes.

He's at least 13 in all of his videos.

He's not that young AND this shit is entirely possible with parents pushing for it. He's only a prodigy if he somehow shows some miraculous talent with such little effort AND can go far with it.
