I always wondered how they can humanly do that. Flesh and bone versus solid wood and concrete, it just seems it should be impossible. I know if I tried that my hands would be all cut up and the bricks would still be intact lol.

I didn't finish the video...I suppose I should've waited to see the axe, but most of what I saw is pretty typical. The wood is extremely easy to break, most kids will be doing some form of that after having practiced for a while.

Still cool to watch, but I didn't see anything out of the ordinary in the first minute or so.

That shit is fake. They score the boards with a razor so they break right at the line and with more ease than if you kicked it without said score. Looks cool though!

You don't need to know karate, you need to know how the stunts are done.

I studied tae kwon do. The forms were a waste of time and nothing but art-form. Nothing more than theatrics. But the duck walk killed me since I injured my knee in track and field. Karate was much better.

Even if they did score them, run a razor blade across a concrete lamp post and try punching it so it falls. I could see them do this so they can control where it breaks for safety, but still you need TONS of force to be able to break things like cement pads or even 2x4's with just your hands. I'm guessing their skin is trained for this so they don't get cut as much. Like people who play guitar a lot their fingers get used to it.

In some of the stunts the wood grain was also in their favor which helps I suppose.

I can't watch crap like this anymore. It's been debunked, it's fake. It's NOT martial arts its gymnastics with fake boards.

Of course there are different methods of scoring different materials, e.g. reciprocating saw, chisel, lamp post scorer.

Was hoping there would be a fight of some sort, but it's man vs inanimate objects. I am disappointed.

Why do you think they all break in the middle area? They score them all...in the middle.

They break in the middle because that is where you strike. I've been in martial arts and I've broken boards. They weren't scored first. Some of mine did not break in the middle, when I didn't strike accurately.

I know there are plenty of schools that cheat / fake / etc, but not all. Some of it is real. On the flipside, plenty of people have broken bones trying to break boards / cinder blocks and striking incorrectly. Your form and focus and is what makes it work.

That's good and all, but wth is the point of breaking boards and cinder blocks besides showing off? Who in their right mind would jeopardize their hands, feet and digits for a show? A fucking circus performer, that's who. I don't see the purpose of taking more risks than I need to.

I see your point and agree that is is taking a risk for something that doesn't really matter. It's similar to asking hikers why they hike up a mountain knowing they could fall off a ledge. It's a personal goal relating to an activity you participate in.

I have one small scar on my right hand from when I was involved in martial arts. Thankfully I never broke a bone.

I have scars on both hands at my index finger and middle finger knuckles from hitting a 2x4 covered with a fire hose over and over. I used to be more of a risk-taker.

i'll regret not learning tae kwon do when i'm attacked by bunches of deceptively breakable show props... except for the bed of nails, standing on broken glass and breaking thin boards going with the grain, because absolutely anyone can do those.
