How does Koosh make koosh balls? I know sounds weird but I havent figured out how it all stays together

Take one apart and you can see. They take a bunch of rubber strands, and tighten a wire around the middle. As it gets tighter it squishes them so they stick out in all directions, and not just the ends.

You figure these things out if you play enough backyard baseball with Koosh balls
