Smoking Hot Deal! Dell carries the Konica Minolta magicolor 2300W Color Laser Printer $499.95 - auto 15% off - the one day only $35 off coupon - $150 rebate = $239.96 shipped!!

This really is a super low cost no compromise option for home or small business users. The Minolta-QMS Magicolor 2300W really does produce great results and at this price it is just insane!

Features:
Up to 16 ppm black, 4 ppm color laser printing
2,400 x 660 dpi maximum print resolution
200 MHz PowerPC 405 processor, 32 MB SDRAM, expandable to 288 MB
USB and parallel connectivity
1-year warranty, PC compatible

Rebate is listed on the product page. The orignal price is $499 without coupon saving. It's totally legal.

For some reason the original link applies a $50 off coupon (expires 12/02) for me. This sounds real good but I think you are risking the $150 rebate. I had to squeeze Minolta pretty hard to get my last rebate from them, its not worth the bother trying again. Going to pass on it.

This is a good printer, but there are a few things to note:

- rebates are strictly monitored for Minolta printers now due to past idiocy on Parago/Minolta's part.
- this is a Windows GDI printer, no worky with Linux (I think).
- toner carts run around $70 each for color and last 1500 pages. Black is around $80 but lasts 4500.
- printer ships with 4 x 1500 page carts (3 colors + black).
- toner refills are around $30 shipped on Ebay and can refill a single cart twice, but DON'T overfill these carts. The printer doesn't like that (don't ask me how I know).
- slow to warm up and start first page but decent after that. Not great for photos but good for most everything else.

In a past thread on a BW Minolta printer 1350W (didn't search for the link) it was stated that the printer would only run at half speed if you used an aftermarket cartridge or refilled a Minolta cart. after it gave a "low toner" warning. They have electronics in the carts, now, tho not as evil as Lexmark's, apparently. Dunno if any of this applies to the printer in this thread, tho. I got the 1350W FAR, and it's a great little printer.

Now that is a REVIEW !!

ehh... well if it's not great for photos, what's the point of buying a color laser? especially when we already have a BW laser + color inkjet?

The 2300w is not affected by this. You can add toner w/o replacing cart and still run fullspeed.

BTW when I mentioned 'don't overfill', I meant don't refill to more than 2/3 capacity.

OP forgot to mention that a 15% discount is applied to the $499 automagically. So it's $500 - $75 - $35 - $150 + Free Shipping = $240

If you don't care about photo printing but want the speed of a laser with color, natch.
