I don't know how hot this deal is, but here it is: Amazon has the soon-to-be-released Konica Minolta Dimage XG 3.2MP Digital Camera with 3x Optical Zoom for $299.99 with free shipping.

They show the MSRP as being $399.99, and places like RitzCamera and Computers4Sure are taking preorders for it as well at the $400 price. I can't find any info on Minolta's site as to what the true MSRP is, but if it is really $400, then the Amazon deal becomes pretty hot - $100 off a brand new model digital camera isn't a bad deal at all.

Yesterday's Wall Street Journal had a review of mini-cameras and they picked this one over the Sony, Pentax, and Casio; all of which, have 4 or 5 megapixels. This one's got three MP, but they said the image quality and resolution were the best.

I have a Minolta Dimage Xi ... its a pretty sweet little camera. Image quality looks damn good. Only thing I don't like about mine is that it doesn't want to operate right when its outside in the cold (battery drains really fast .. and then goes shuts off .. but thats only when its less than about 15 deg F .. and mine is a few models older than this one)

If you don't mind refurbs, Geeks has a model newwer than mine .. but of course older than the XG for $199 + shipping
