It's the Added Gold that Makes the Difference.
Most CD-Rs are layered with pure silver, which can degrade quickly. This puts your audio,
data, or images at risk. Gold is far more stable, so Kodak created a unique reflective layer
with 24K gold added. We are the only disc-manufacturer that does this, and it produces a
combination of reliability and reflectivity that far outlives silver-only discs. Combine this with
our ultra-reliable dye layer and our tough polycarbonate base, and you can be confident that
your most important data will record safely... and stay safe for decades to come.

The other deal also sounds good... $28 for 80 discs with slim-line jewel case

These discs are silver and gold... not the pure gold discs... :)

Damn, I would order some if I didn't have a couple hundred TYs coming in :)

Good deal.

Consider Mitsui is charging $0.85/disc for its silver CD-R, Kodak's $0.3/disc is rather cheap for high-end CD-Rs. The only down side is that these discs are certified at 12X only. Of course, you can always get TY discs much cheaper when they are on sale.

No more high end CDRs for me. I figure even if the cheap ones will last me 5 years, I'll already have copied all my data to DVD-R by then.
