Kodak ESP 9 causing Windows 7 blue screens?

I recently purchased a Kodak ESP 9 when my Epson all-in-one died.

It is consistently making Windows 7 x64 blue screen if I try to do a high resolution and/or full page scan.

Anyone else experienced this? Any solutions?

Could be that the scanner drivers are not Win7 compatible. Or, . . . there is not enough memory available for that level of scan. Have you tried adjusting the scanner's compatibility in Win 7 to run in XP Mode?

If it does not cause the BSOD in a lower resolution scan, then I'm inclined to think it's insufficient memory available for the hi res scan.

Data from or an image of the BSOD would be helpful.

My machine has 6GB. I know it is a 32-bit app and can't use all of that, but still - I can't use the ADF at all, even in 300DPI.

Scanning a CD cover it crashed at 1200 DPI but could handle 600. This is crazy for a scanner that is supposed to go up to 9600.

When I scan from the ADF using other applications, instead of the software that came with it, it starts to pull the page in, and then the app freezes at the beginning of the actual scan. Just the Kodak app is blue screening the box.

I can try running the app in XP compatibility mode, but how would I put the scanner drivers in compatibility mode?

I believe that when you set the properties ofthe scanner in XPmode, the drivers are bawards compatible.

Consider not using the Koday software. I do all my scanning now using the TWAIN drivers through Irfanview or other applications that have an "Acquire" capability.

Can't address your ultrahigh res scans - I have never had a need for anything about 500. Thefiles get too damn big. Is your page file set big enough to handle the big load?

It seems to be a problem with the USB drivers for it.
After removing the USB cable and re-adding it as a network printer it is working ok. (/em knocks wood)
