Anyone need a Digital Camera?
I was sitting at home doing nothing and I though I would check out some specials. Here is what I came up with....

Kodak DC3200 Digital Camera
ecost has this for $173.77 + $12.95 Next Day Delivery.
Link

Staples has this at $199.98 (-$50 rebate) with free next day shipping.
Link

Rebate Link

PM the ecost price at Staples and use a $30 off $100 Staples coupon.

Looks something like this...

$173.99, Staples to ecost PM
$ 12.95, Next Day Delivery
--------
$186.72, Sub-total
-$30.00, $30 OFF $100 Staples Coupon
-$50.00, Staples Rebate
--------
$106.72, End Cost.

Good Luck to All with this one.

Nice deal you put together. This would be a great starter camera for someone, and at a price the some people are paying for 640X480 cameras. Good Job.

A few more possibilities:

Office Depot has the DC3200 for $179.99 (was $149, but they raised it for some reason). PM it at Staples, use the coupon ($30 off), get the $50 MIR....

Can't tell from the teeny-tiny scan of the CompUSA ad for 02/04, but
they might have it on sale for $149 in their next ad. I can't tell
if it's $149 after an instant rebate or what (can anybody find out?),
but if it is, you can PM it at $149 at Staples, apply the $30 off,
and then go for the $50 MIR. Without figuring in tax (and shipping if
it appears on site), that'd be ~$70...I might consider getting one
for that price.

From Kodak's Website:

What accessories are available for this camera?
Video Out Cable
AC Adapter
KODAK Picture Cards
Lens Cap
AA Batteries, alkaline, NiMH rechargeable
Battery Charger
Soft Camera Case
KODAK USB Card Reader

LENS CAP? Kodak has GOT to be kidding. I would buy this for the $70.00 price, but cutting costs by selling the lens cap as an accessory is LOW.

Found clarification on the CompUSA sale price coming up this weekend
(02/04) and it is $199 - $20 instant rebate - $30 mail-in rebate, so
you'd be better off trying to PM against Office Depot or Walmart since
they both sell them for around $179 (on-line and B&M).

A friend of mine got this camera for Christmas and yes, they skimped
on a few things: serial transfer (talk about slo-o-o-o-o-w), no tripod
mount on bottom, and have yet to figure out how to get the 2x zoom ... Another person borrowed it to take some pictures (inside) and found that what the optical view-finder showed and what you got a capture of were quite different (suppose you could figure out proper shooting distance after a while). Definitely want to pick up a USB compactflash reader if you get this...but you can afford to get one with all the money you save.

The 3200 is terrible, i returned it and got a fuji 1400.

No lense cap, its flimsy, digital zoom only, no self timer = SUCK

it's also ugly :)

EDIT; forgot to mention lcd viewfinder isnt real time (its jumpy/slow)

mrcide.... considering fuji 1400 cost twice as much as dc3200.. this is a great deal.
circuit city also carries dc3200 for $179. the staples rebate only good for purchases until 2/10.

Great find, the camera is decent, but the price is really good for a first digital camera for someone. :)

Will CVS print pics from flash memory? If they do, will it be more expensive than developing/printing regular 35mm pics? I would buy this for my mom, but she doesn't have a computer. Is this a good solution for a non-tech savvy user?

Knocks, This is probably not a good idea for your Mom for two reasons. 1. She doesn't have a computer to download the photos to. 2. You can buy a decent 35mm/APS camera for a hundred bucks that has many more features than this camera.

You would also have to buy a CF card in addition to the camera, but in its defense, you could buy the optional Video Out cable and she could view the photos on her TV through the Composite (RCA) Video input. Not ideal, but it could work. The only way to save photos that way is to have the VCR recording as you thumb through the photos.

On a general note, this in an excellent deal if you are looking for a camera to take snapshots for Flea-Bay or to visually catalog items in your house. Not enough resolution to take landscapes, but I had the DC215 (same resolution) and it took great close-up photos.

a great first digicam would have been a jamcam from etoys. it was like $23 and it was 640x480. pics look good, has a timer, and comes with a MMC card through the mail. i don't like the fact it had MMC--it's damn expensive. my roommate uses it and loves it. i'll stick with my nikon coolpix 950 though =)

Do you think this camera is better than this Samsung?
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/t...5/sr=8-1/ref=aps_sr_p_1_1/102-8685555-7936105

With the rebate form, students can get $100 off, leaving the price for this Samsung SCD-80 at around $100 bucks...... Anyone have any experience with this camera? Thanks!

They don't compare. The 3400 is a re-badged DC280 and the 3200 is a re-badged DC215 with no optical zoom, a CF slot but no card included and 2mb flash onboard.

Specs on the 3400

Specs on the 3200

I own the DC280, and I find it funny that the 3400 is basically the same camera, but no longer comes with 4 NiMh batteries and a charger. My camera also came with a Kodak camera case, which was of excellent quality. Hope this helps.

Ok, I got my DC3200 from UPS this morning. Pricematched it over the phone with Walmart's price.... 178.87 then 30 off 100 coupon + tax of 10.73 = 159.60

-50 mail in rebate = total of $109.60

My main question is, i heard of a few people say they went into the store and showed them the invoice of their online order, and requested the free scanner that is being offered... But i thought that was "In store only"! Tell me, who did you talk to, what did you say, what sexual deeds did you have to perform to get this scanner for free just by flashing your invoice at them?!?! 'Cause I wanna try it! (minus the sex acts, of course)

Also, on the invoice, there is a little box called "Special Instructions" where I guess the CSR that took my order types stuff in... Well, check out what she wrote:

"Tried to price match the kodak DC3200 to Walmart knowing that we have the $50 rebate, hoping he could sneak past. just watch out for him"

Can you believe that? You think I could sue for emotional damage??? Because I feel terrible now! :p

WOW!! If ever there was a time to get this, NOW IS IT!!

It seems several Best Buy locations (im in SD), are selling this for $149!!!!! Therefore, Pricematch with Staples, Use a $30 off 100 coupon, and then your total AFTER the $50 rebate is $75 (give or take for tax)!!! That's for the camera! Then just go into a B&M & get the SCANNER!!!!

Hurry tho, deal ends TOMOROW!!

Hope this helps someone!

I need some help.. My girlfriend won't let me take pictures of her anymore because the flash is too bright. Turning it off doesn't have enough light. Is there any way I can get anything in between. I don't think covering part of the flash is a good idea, but I can't come up with anything else?
I'm no camera person
Any ideas?
