If you buy or have an extra cf card, you will need to buy or have a reader for it.

That means I'll actually have to go out and buy a CF reader to use the card?

Could I use the CF slot in my PPC to transfer the pics to my HD or will the card have to be formatted first?

Thanks Janeson!

I picked up one of these at the CC Express in Cambridge, came to 63 bucks with taxes. They even had it advertised at 59.99, in one of their glass cases. Great deal!

You definitely don't need a card reader to read the CF. You can download from the camera, but it's way so slow. You can plug it into your laptop with a CF PMCCIA adapter. I got mine for about $4.00 at a surplus store. Or you can also use your PDA. Say with an IPAQ, just plug it into the slot and access the CF like a drive through the cradle.

I've had this camera for about two weeks now. I immediately got NIMH batteries with charger from target on clearance and last week I got a 16 meg lexar card w/reader from Service Merchandise.
For a first camera it is great. I can take tons of pictures w/o worrying about wasting film. 16 meg holds 77 pictures and many pictures don't even need a flash.
It does not come with either a case or a lense cap. I could not even find a lense cap for sale on the KODAK site though I looked. They did have an accessories set on sale that includes a case and some other goodies. Here's the description:

An "exciting" addition to your KODAK DC200, DC210, DC215,DC3200 or DC3400 Digital Camera. It comes complete with a:

 •
7 volt AC adapter (for use with the DC200, DC200 Plus, DC210, DC210 Plus, DC215, DC220, DC240, DC240i, DC260, DC265, DC280, DC290, DC3200 and DC3400 Digital Cameras.)

4MB:disgust: picture card that makes it easy to expand the memory of your digital camera, laptop computer, or a variety of systems and devices with PCMCIA Type II or Type III slots

Color accent camera bag. Measures: 6.5 H x 4.5 D x 1 " W

Lens cleaning cloth to keep smudges and fingerprints off lenses

<< "greedy bastards?" actually my father is here so that makes you half wrong already. i got the last 4 in my store...does that make me a "greedy bastard"? >>

Yes it does. Are you sure he really is your father? :)

Maybe I'll limit my posts of hot deals I find in the future. Why should I tell anyone else about them when I can save them all for ME?

By the way, I'm not moaning because I couldn't get one. I got one on Monday when I posted that you can get a Kodak 3700 for $169 at CC.

wait a minute...do I go through the whole way with checkout online and everything? The bill shows 86.59 so do they charge me that much online, and then give me a refund when I go pick it up?

I think it's only $59.99 in B&M. So if you order it online for in store pickup, you end up paying $79.99. How about just checking inventory online and them going to the store? You can also try calling a store with it in stock and asking that they hold one for you.

How will the printouts of these photos look at 4x7? Anywhere near film quality? Oh, and what is a good digital camera review site?
Thanks,
Jon

just scored one......the associate whistled when the screen came up at $59.99....
i think he's gonna buy the remaining two himself.

he offered me a $45/4 year replacement plan and I have '30' days to think over this.

basically, in 6 mnths (bcoz in 6 mnths, these cameras should be extinct) I can go back and get the upgrade to this one.
but I dont know how their policy works and what is the next upgrade camera to this one.

any thoughts?

so for, $65 + $45 , I'm assured of a working DC3200 + the next upgrade for a couple of years....

correct?

<< um besides be happy with your 3 and go #@% yourself you greedy prick! you have no legal ground to stand on. >>

Yeah, i guess i'm a greedy prick. This is a hot deal and that's the nature of the beast?

<< i don't see why you'd need a ton anyways, besides for ebay purposes. >>

There are other purposes too. I actually put on monthly raffles at my church to raise money for youth fellowship activities. Just 2 weeks ago we raised great money for our chinese new years party raffling off deals i found here on the net like the Apex DVD player deal.

<< you have no legal ground to stand on. >>

I'm not asking for a lawsuit. I know it's withing their right to "refuse service to anyone" but:
1. I haven't made 1 purchase from that particular store.
2. It wasn't an advertised loss leader where they say x per customer.
3. I made the purchase directly from CC.com which that same manager immediately cancelled out.

by the way i see that he said it's cancelled out, but so far my credit card is still charged.

I understand limiting quantities for item to get customers through the door, but this was not an advertised item. I gave him an example that if i bought batteries, would he limit the quantity, he said it was not a valid analogy, which i too believe is unfair. So i asked him what about some telephones that were $70, he hesitated for a second then said no.

The truth is if i just walked in and wanted to buy 5 32" TV's he'd jump in and help me in a heart beat. But because found out that the price of the camera was actually lower than as advertised, he refused (csa from the first store told him the discounted price).

Business wise, doesn't it make sense to sell your whole inventory regardless of who buys it (unless you lower the price and advertise to lure people in your store)?

Call me greedy, that's why i'm here in the Hot Deals Forum

grumble anyone get anymore free lense caps? i called in and a pissy guy asked for my credit card #, told him i'd call back later.

How will the printouts of these photos look at 4x7? Anywhere near film quality? Oh, and what is a good digital camera review site?
Thanks,
Jon

um no, this is more of a fun kick around cam, its 1152x864 @high setting output is good enough for website purposes, ebay picts, taking picts at a whim.. but for print outs its resolution/quality just isn't high enough. just look at the pict on your screen, it doesn't look photo quality, zoom just 2x and its all blocky and lacking in any real detail:p u get what u pay for:) mine survived a 4 foot fall to concrete so far so i'm not complaining:)

safe figure for saving your prescious memories on actual printouts.. 3+ mega pixels, with memory so cheap why not. plus in the future when true photoquality is the norm and megabyte storage is scoffed at you will kick youself less:)

and yes the 2x zoom is a marketing joke. it lowers resolution to 500x400 or whatever and then zooms:) what a joke:) your better off just taking the 1152x864 picture and zooming in your paintshop program:p

Is there anyway to cut down the flash a bit? Would putting something transparent/translucent over it help? Anyone try anything?

hm yea i've noticed the flash is only good for when its dark as night and nothings really close to the camera or else it washes out :p

also, will using a cf pack speed up the time between shots? takes 30 seconds to compress and write or whatever grr
