Kobe has 18 in 1st quarter

he's doing pretty well. Barkley, that moron, was going on and on about how Kobe isn't making his fellow teammates (other than shaq) better.

What if they aren't any good to start off with?? I mean, seriously, how much better could kobe make them?? he had 7 assists last night.

I agree. Aren't they 8-2 since he started his 35 ppg run...

kobe critics like to talk like he has a great team around him. take out shaq and he has nothing

I wasn't sure how he'd play tonight with the double OT last night in LA, and his knee problem. The knee problem has me a bit concerned. I hope it's not going to keep him out of any games. But, with the load he's taking, and that problem, it might be inevitable he misses a few games when Shaq comes back.

that, and Barkley always talks out of his ass. only reason he's there is to be the stupid, funny jock, who supposedly speaks his mind.

yeah, LA needs to unload a lot of players in the offseason. Fisher, Fox, Horry, George, Shaw can stay, but we need a solid 15-20ppg big man.

What does that have to do with if the Lakers would beat Denver?

Everything. i think that denver would beat the lakers w/o Kobe and Shaq.

Barkley's statement last night was genius. For once I actually agreed with the man. But it was with the part about how anybody could get 40 points if they shot 40 times a game. I think he's just trying to play down how much everyone is obsessed with Kobe. As for making other people better, I never really understood that, cause you can either shoot or you can't. I guess you can be more open for a shot, but it seems like Kobe would be good at doing that.

But who cares if Kobe beats MJ's record. The record to beat is Wilt Chamberlin's record of 14 consecutive games with 40+ points. Kobe has 7 consecutive games...that'll be a tough record to beat.

and i wonder how you feel about TMac. Kobe is shooting a better percentage than TMac.

TMac's a serious case of him not making his team better.

Yeah, I see your point.
But Andre Kirlenko has a better shoong % than Kobe. If he shot 39 times a game night after night then he could consistently get over 35 points.

I just don't really have an opinion on Tmac. Everyone says he's amazing but yet Magic is struggling. If he's so amazing, shouldn't they have a better record? But I guess Tmac would be comparable to Kobe right now. He gets a lot of points cause he takes a majority of the shots. But Magic doesn't have a person as dominant as Shaq, so the Lakers are a better team. Just remember, the laker's record without Shaq is still horrible. Even though they beat Houston last night, I don't think that shows much because in my opinion, Houston is one of the most overrated teams

you can never compare a 6th man or 3rd scorer vs primary scorer. Kirlenko probably has a better shooting %age than Larry Bird, doesn't make him a better scorer.

But what if they centered their offense around him? Then he would take a majority of the team shots and, if the statistics work out, then he would score a whole lot of points

I am a huge Laker fan, but all this Kobe vs. TMac argument is pretty silly I think. They are both be great players, even if I do think Kobe is the better player because of his willpower and drive. And, TMac IS the Orlando team. I'd hate to see that team play without him, although they did and I think Miller put up 30 once.
TMac's been slumping lately probably because hes tired of carrying the team. Him and KG have done the most carrying of any players I can think of, and Shaq and Kobe don't count because they've had each other for the past 4 years. Hopefully, KG and TMac eventually get teammates that will help them.

If a offense is centered around aplayer, the defense tends to center around stopping that player too. I doubt he could keep up his percentage, because he would be expected to play much longer and harder on offense, while facing more defense meant to stop him.
The amazing thing about Kobe's or Micheal's runs is that the other team is trying to stop them, but they still can get their shots to fall and get to the line.
