It was'nt about Kobe per se... But instead to highlight how a man can serve a life sentence for what is a case her word against his ...(unless accuser has some shocking physical evidence)... seems a little strong in some way.

Haven't been following it, but wasn't there some DNA evidence or something? Shrug, I dunno. I'm not even going to pretend to know who dun it.

There is DNA evidence supposedly, but that's not the issue. The issue is wether or not it was consensual. Problem is if the girl changed her mind at any time during intercourse, the guy is supposed to stop "immediately" otherwise it's considered rape, especially when it's his word vs hers. That's the problem... and the only crime that gets more time is murder. I think that's what he's talking about.

That correct. As the article says the only way to be positive in any of these cases would have a third party in the room or video tape it. (unless tale tell signs of rape occured) not sure exactly what they are though...

Probably physical harm (like buising from a firm grip) as the raper tries to hold the person being raped still. Those would be tell tale signs of rape I guess.
