For this very reason, I will have a live-in partner for live, and will never marry. That's fucked up.

LOL, I miss the Eddie Murphy stand-up days.

All you have to do, you marry a man with a million dollars, is fuck your husband.
That's it! That's your job.
Fuck your husband! That's it.
That's... Just fuck your husband.
You fill out a W2
They say, "What you do?"
You say, "I fuck my husband."
That's it.

:)

even if there was a prenup 10 years = alimony 4lyfe

That's what I read somewhere: that she waited for the 10 year mark in Cali. Now she gets 30% of his income or whatever for life.

Meh, now we know why she stuck with him for so long after his little rape thing.

Sums it up pretty well. It would be one thing if she had helped him earn his money. Like if he were a doctor and they slummed/struggled together for a few years to put him through medical school.

She didn't do shit, though, except put up with him which she could have stopped doing at any moment if she had wanted to. Why does she 'deserve' half?

It's not necessarily alimony for life. It just means that the expiration date for alimony is up to the judge, whereas if it was under 10 years, it would be automatically capped at half the length of the marriage. Also, when he stops playing ball, he won't be making much money aside from investment gains, and can get the spousal support adjusted accordingly.
Anyways, he should have dumped her long time ago if he wanted to chase tail. If he dumped her in 2003, he would have only been on the hook for a year of alimony plus the child support.

He knew that was a possibility, so why didn't he back out before the ten year mark? It certainly wasn't like he felt he needed marital fidelity.

She never loved him. It was all a plot to get the money.
Why do rich guys like that even get married? With that kind of fame and money you know she isnt going to just leave for no reason.

More like she just waited 10 years... alimony for life in California. Well played.
The exploitation and decline of the institution of marriage continues... He should not have cheated on her, but she put up with it long enough to take him to the cleaners, bah...

Career move? Marketers don't want to peddle shit to anyone with someone who isn't married?

What a surprise!

Another fool who let the little head do the thinking for the big head. Unfortunately for Kobe ... he has a LOT of assets!

Ball players shouldn't get married until they're into their thirties and on the tail ends of their career. Imagine being a star basketball player and going on the road for 40+ trips and having women throwing themselves at you at after nearly every away game. You're going to cheat. Magic fucking Johnson got AIDS from some woman, for god's sake.
