hello my fellow computer junkies,
i have got a good one for you guys. to get them liitle computer brains to working. here goes,
i have got a hp pavilion that the motherboard is shot. it is of the atx form factor. now what i am needing to know, is what other boards will fit in this system the correct way? not sure of the measurements on it, was hoping you may know. it don't matter the specs on the board or anything as far as cpu and ect. i will decide on that later after i determine which boards will fit. so sit back and get them liitle brains a working, and see if you can help me out on this one. lol p.s. this is a mini tower. not sure of height or anything. like i said. it is a pavilion 4450. thanks in advance guys for the help. merry christmas to you and yours. as long as you're sure the old motherboard was an atx board, any atx board should fit on the mounting holes etc...

I dunno.. they might have an unsuaul ATX connector like Dell does, which would results in any motherboard being put in imediatley frying.

Check it out first.

I'm pretty sure you are S.O.L. :( I went through this a few months ago. Unfortunately HP has built in protection for preventing MS's OS from being duplicated and used on another machine. This protection is in the form of encoding on your mobo to allow the OS on your HD to work, so if you change the mobo you'll have to purchase a new OS and reformt ect. I got this off a forum at HP. I'll try to find the HP technicians response to this issue and post back.

Dell does the same thing by linking it to the BIOS. If it doesn't have a Dell BIOS on the mobo then it won't run
