Know why it still works?! Parts falling off on an AIW Radeon...

I opened it, and one of the capacitators (??? I think) just fell out. I was really eager to test the card anyway, so I stuck it on an old motherboard, and it didn't blow up or anything. Now it's in my brother's computer, and it's working so far...know anything about this? The consequences? I have no idea why it's still working, but I'll try to get it replaced ASAP. =)

Heck yea! Replace it before it stops working, I'm not saying it will, but why put something like that off?

The same thing happened to me. I just bought the 32 meg ddr from best buy and when i opened it i noticed 2 little silver and black things in the bag also. i looked on the board and sure enough the board has a few of them on it but i cant tell if any came off.The board works fine though. Think i should call ATI?

Dang, looks like ATI is getting sloppy? One of the guys that bought one said parts fell off his AIW also! But it's still works for some reason...hmmm, hope it doesn't blow up in a few days!!! =) Will replace it soon (or post about the fire at my house).

Maybe they're just "extra" parts. You know like after you build an ikea dresser and you have extra bolts and stuff.

It doesnt surprise me. Alot of components on electronics do not really serve any functional purpose other than to meet FCC requirements.

Hahahaha, I doubt it's "extra parts" cause I can see where it fell off, but it probably doesn't serve a very big purpose (or I don't know about it yet!). Oh well, anyone else have parts falling off on Radeons?!

Did it fall off before you installed it? The packaging they put the cards in is quite poor. ATI has a pretty good reputation of making good quality products

Nope, it fell off as I was pulling the card out of the bag, but it's working still (well, I just got a BSOD while watching TV, but could be something else).

Yeah right, a free card?! =) You know what we get? A couple of weeks with no Radeons while we wait for our card to get to ATI, and then them taking another week to send it back! =) LMK how it goes with their tech support or whatever though...thanks.

I had a Samsung HDD that "needed to be bad" so I started breaking off the little ittybitty resistors. Darn thing worked until I snapped off a larger 3pin IC type thingy

Hahahaha, "needed to be bad." And rickn, would it surprise you if it didn't work when I plugged it in? ;)
