I've heard some companies are a**holes when it comes to switching your domain over to another company. Does anyone know any good ones? I see v3.com has them for 8.95/year.

godaddy.com and namecheap.com are pretty popular around here.

i use namecheap.com .. haven't had a problem but also haven't tried to switch the domain to another company.

thanks, i signed up for 1and1.com's free offer a while ago, I still don't know how they're doing that for free though...also namecheap looks a lilttle better than godaddy at the moment

I'd imagine free domain sites do so because once you want your domain back, they can totally price gouge the hell out of you. I remember that back in the day...no idea if that's the case or not, but that's my business practice sense tingling.

I was talking about 1and1's free web space, not free domain offers. But yeah, I've heard if you want to transfer domains, they won't do it or will do it for a BIG price.
