I know very little about these since I just decided lastnight to add them to my list of possible cars. Anybody know any decent web pages about these? I wasn't able to find much last night.

hopefully working link 🙂

There the one I am thinking of at the moment. I have no idea if thats a decent price since thats the only one I have found sofar . I am going to have to do a little more research but thought I would as here while I was at it.

I am not much of an import guy but I am trying to expand my options.

hm... don't know much but the engine is an inline 6 3.0 litre and the regular ones are 200 hp and the trubo is 250 hp. My old toyota uses the same engine as the 87' Supra but it's a Toyota Cressida (which I get embarassed to drive around in). 😱

found one

94 and up would be nice but I don't see many for under $4k 🙂

Are these things a pain in the ass to work on or something? Thats the kind of things I am looking for since I plan to do any work on it myself.

Are parts prices high?

Weight 3400-3500

Man I was expecting more like 3000lbs. May be a little to heavy for me. Plus this blown headgasket crap that I haven't read about doesn't look good.

actually yeah, 93.5 and up........the mkiv came out in 1993......but anyway, the mkiii is good i have heard. if you got an extra 15000+ to spend, then you can look at even a 1993, because that is the price the 93+ turbo supras go for...aroudn 20k :-( it sucks, and it may sound absurd since blue book is so much lower but hey, people pay that much so yeah. i have been waiting on a 93 supra for quite some time

Well from what I have read sofar the headgasket thing really doesn't sound that bad aslong as the one still on it is in good shape. I would just need to pull the valve cover off and torque the head down to 72lbs instead of the factory 54lbs. I have replace head gaskets before and as long as there is room to get to everything it really isn't that big of a deal.

97' maybe. 87' bleh

Well about the only thing I haven't found that I would like to know is the price of a new/remanufacture turbo and skidpad numbers.

I love all the misinformation in this forum..

Turbos cost no more that normally aspirated cars to maintain. Gas costs are higher as you should always use Premium.

Head gaskets aren't a problem if you use common sense, good gas, and don't overboost.

I would buy that for that price, after inspecting it of course. One owner w/109k.. It's just broken in!

Kudos to you on your choice, just make sure you check ALL of the cars systems before you buy. It's easy to focus on one like the engine, and not notice the brakes are trashed. 🙂
