Any suggestions? I want to play something with my brother when we get spare time. We like fast-paced stuff. (But NO racing titles , please!!)

I'm hoping for some good RPG suggestions, something that will be easy to pick up. But, I don't mind strategy games either.

He said RPG.

Dungeon Siege I and II are pretty easy to pick up. Niether of the two are anything special, so if you were to only play one, just go with DS2.

Don't remember if Neverwinter Nights had coop campaign via LAN, but if it does, do it! The single player was fun enough. :)

OK, I'm thinking about Titan Quest now. Anyone knows if the demo allows a LAN co-op match? I want to try it first.

Also, is Neverwinter Nights easy to pick up? I think I have easy access to that as a friend of mine has it already.

What do you guys think?

As for Diablo II and Baldur's Gate, well, I remember BG. I played that AND enjoyed it. But now, the 2 of 'em are just too dated. I'll never get my brother to play them. I once heard that there was a 3D version of BG around though, is that true?

The massive amount of skills and feats and a bunch of other crap might turn you off.

The 3D Baldur's Gates are both console titles, the second one is kind of rare too.

he never specified really. he did mention he'd like RPGs, but that wasn't the only types of games he wanted.

Rainbow Six: Vegas 2 is really fun in co-op mode.

I used to play Dungeon Siege LAN all the time. Sooo much fun. Come to think of it that's probably what lead my friend to a horrible WoW addiction.

Serious Sam co-op, Left 4 Dead Co-op are both really good suggestions too.

One of my all time fav Lan games was Dungeon Keeper 2. My best memories was of me and 3 of my friends playing. All 3 of them were against me and were in a room together so that they could plot against me. I can remember them screaming at the top of there lungs at me when I would take all 3 of them out at the same time :)

Ok,

I've boiled down to,

Titan Quest
Rainbow six: Vegas 2

I talked to my brother yesterday and he said 'NO' for Neverwinter Nights. He found the turn-based combat system annoying. BUT, he did say that Diablo 2 demo was fun. So I think we'll try that and if we enjoy it, I'll get Titan Quest.

I don't know about Vegas 2, but we both enjoyed (VERY) CoD4 so, if it's anything like that, I'm going to seriously consider it.

Any other suggestions?

Vegas and Vegas 2 are definitely good. It's a little more tactical than CoD4 (cover system) but still have regenning health. It also doesn't have infinite spawn like CoD4, just massive triggered spawns. Overall, it feels better than CoD4. Blasting through that w/ a friend sure was fun.

If you play Titan Quest make sure it's either before Diablo 2, or not at all. I've put more hours into D2 than any other game and I thought TQ was an absolute piece of crap. It runs like ass too, there's a reason those guys are out of business now.

I run TQ:IT with maxed out settings and with the XMAX 3rd party mod (monster mobs up to 10x size), and it runs fine. The only real slowdown I've encountered is the last fight in IT.

I will say this though, TQ is kind of boring in Normal mode -- you basically spend your skill points in that difficulty just maxing out your two masteries. I usually speed run through Normal, or "cheat" by copying over a completed Normal map from one of my other characters, because Normal is just plain boring to play through, especially after you've already done it a few times.

It's not until Epic and Legendary that you really start being able to focus your skill points in abilities and the drops start getting really good, and that's where the fun really begins.

There are at least two really well-made mods for TQ, if you want to fine tune things like exp and drop percentages.

Besides, it's only $10 from Steam this week, so if you hate it, it's not like you're out a ton of money.

If you're specifically looking for co-op, UT3 with the invasion mod is an excellent choice. Another game that comes to mind is Splinter Cell: CT, which is a few years old now but has a dedicated 2 player co-op campaign.
