is there a version of linux that looks similar to knoppix? i havent used much of linux, but i greatly enjoy the look and feel of knoppix (i tried knoppix in case i didnt have time to learn linux and i didnt want to have to reinstall windows or deal with a dual boot). ive seen screenies of other linux versions like red hat and they looks very "fruity"/bubbly/girly, whereas knoppix doesnt. the bad thing is, theres a million linux tutorials but they all seem to be for suse and redhat, i have yet to find a good one for knoppix (other than the one it comes with). so please, can someone either give me a link to a good knoppix tutorial (i cant even connect to the internet) or tell me a good version of linux with a similar feel? thanks.

Knoppix is Debian-based.

Debian stuff should work with it. Also Ubuntu is very similar.

Knoppix also uses the KDE desktop, were as Debian uses Gnome by default but supports KDE very well. Ubuntu uses Gnome, but they have a KDE version called Kubuntu.

The KDE is the desktop environment...

Try installing Debian Testing or Kubuntu for a similar setup.

i googled kubuntu, and was somewhat disappointed in the appearence; it looks very similar to windows (which i dont mind, but not what i was looking for). i like knoppix because everyhting is very small, simple, and clean. the only thing the start bar does is change the profiles which i love, and to access all the menus and progs and what not you just have to right click on the desktop somewhere, which is the main thing i like. but, thanks for the help anyway
