knoppix questions

hey, i started using knoppix (live cd) and i've been trying to do a few things but have come across a few problems.

i tried to burn a cd using the k3b program but i get a code 12 error. i have tried burning at 1x and still i get the error. i calculated how much i would be able to burn off the ram (400) and still no luck, any one know how to burn a regular data cd on knoppix live.

secondly when i use ftp(through knoqueror) to transfer information the transfer will stall alot.

I have not used knoppix much or k3b at all but I have noticed sometimes things are a lil qwirky on the live cd's if installing knoppix to a drive is an option you might try that and see if it works better.
