Knoppix LiveCD not booting up...

I have a machine consisting of the following:

MSI K7n2 Delta motherboard
AMD 1.4ghz cpu
700-ish MB of DDRAM
Geforce2 MX400 video card
Old 56x CDROM

The machine has no harddrive, and boots the Linux-based operating system 'Knoppix' from a live CD. I threw it together from old parts one day, and I basically just use it for IRC and web browsing while I game on this computer.

However, yesterday when I tried to start it up, it got past POST and gave me:

'Disk boot failure, insert system disk and press enter' when trying to boot from the CD.

I've verified that the Live CD is still working. I swapped the boot sequence around and changed the CD drive's IDE plug to no avail.

I suspect the motherboard may be going bad, because it's had a slight bit of trouble getting to POST once or twice. Any ideas?

Can you put the CD Drive in another machine that you know works? Or do you have another CD Drive you can test it on? Did you change the one of two plugs or replace the entire cable?
