knock knock knock?

writing an essay and need a word to describe police banging on the door. do i just use knock knock knock? or is there a better word to describe it

And as for the verb you'd use to describe the policeman's action, you could use 'rapping' as opposed to 'knocking.' Don't know, it'd sound more 'Poe-ish' to me. That's good. 😉
